Affairs Are a Funny Thing
Affairs hold a mirror to ourselves.
Affairs are a funny thing.
A relationship that has to exist purely in the shadows, develop in secret, and exist completely concealed from the outside world can hold a mirror up and tell us more about ourselves and what we are missing than the most introspective therapist can. An affair allows us to take our masks and emotional armour off and just BE with another person. Neither participant is required to play a role or maintain a persona like we normally do in real life.
I nodded up and down, reading this.
EVERY SINGLE WORD.
Affairs hold a mirror up to ourselves. They reflect both what we want and what we lack. They also fool us into believing the intoxicating electric magic of the affair itself. The escape from reality.
Of course, there are those that do just put on a new mask, continue to play games, and do all the negative things that we see posted about here (r/adultery), but I’m talking about the GOOD affairs. The ones that curl your toes, where you spend all your time apart thinking about each other. The plans, the hopes, the dreams, each one tells us a little something about who WE are.
How does an affair tell us about who we are?
Tell me in the comments.

I am not necessarily an expert on affairs but I do have several women who are best friends and we really enjoy each others company
There is a lot of feeling between us, lotta smiles and stories and just good company where we all
feel comfortable and safe with each other
Really look forward to your columns, MonaLisa, always fun to read
